Backyard Pools Renewed
Kids notice it first – the steps feel scratchy, the walls look patchy and the whole pool just seems tired, even when the water is clear. Mad Pool Interiors & Renovations specialises in residential pool renovations across the Sunshine Coast, bringing worn concrete pools back to a finish you will actually enjoy using again.
A good home renovation starts with a clear look at what is failing: rough or delaminating interiors, dated waterline tiles, cracked coping and surrounds that no longer feel safe underfoot. From there, the renovation is planned around how your family uses the pool, the look you want from the house and the level of disruption you can live with.
Interior resurfacing can be matched with waterline tiling and new waterline features to sharpen the edge line, while coping upgrades and surround work help the pool area feel clean, finished and easier to maintain. Call (07) 5493 3639 to book your free onsite quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need to replace waterline tiles during residential pool renovations?
Not always, but it’s common. Waterline tiles hide the scum line and get heavy chemical exposure, so they often stain, craze or loosen over time. If the interior is being resurfaced, replacing tiles can give a cleaner edge line and helps seal the transition, reducing future leaks behind the tile band.
Can you renovate a residential pool without changing the whole pool area?
Yes. Many projects focus on the interior resurfacing, waterline tiles and coping while leaving most paving and landscaping intact. Targeted repairs can also address steps, benches and skimmer areas where wear shows first. A good inspection helps confirm what must be replaced, what can be repaired and what can stay.
How long do residential pool renovations take?
Timeframes depend on what’s being updated. An interior resurfacing can often be completed in about 1–2 weeks, while renovations that add waterline tiling, coping and surround works may take longer. Weather, curing time and any shell repairs can extend the schedule. Expect short periods where the pool can’t be used.

Family Life
Pool Finishes That Suit
Home pools get used hard – sunscreen, parties, storms and long stretches of heat, so the best results come from doing the prep properly and choosing a finish that suits the household.
Interior options like pebble, glass bead and exotic blends each change the feel underfoot and the way the water colour reads in full sun, so selecting the right one is as much about comfort and upkeep as it is about style.
Renovation work often includes tidying problem areas like steps, benches and ledges, because these are the spots that show wear first and can feel uncomfortable if the surface is failing.
For older pools, it can also make sense to review filtration and lighting as part of the renovation plan so the water stays clearer and the pool looks better at night.
